Cribari Footlight
The Footlights were purchased, but there was no budget money for the installation. The foundation provided the funding ($11,400) to get the footlights installed.

Footlights are a feature noone notices, but which make any stage presentation more visible. They sit at the edge of the stage projecting back onto the stage.
In the past, when the Villages Amateur Theatre staged our productions, it was difficult for our audience to see the actor's faces. All the lighting is set on a bar that is very high and shines down at a steep angle. Footlights direct light upwards, providing a more balanced, softer view of the performers, especially their faces. By funding the installation of the footlights, the EVF has greatly improved the ability of those attending our plays to see the actor's faces thus enhancing their ability to enjoy our shows. The VAT is extremely grateful to the EVF, and our viewing audience is as well.

Before the Villages Amateur Theatre (VAT) had footlights, we made a conscious effort to limit hats being worn by the actors. This was because the lighting in the auditorium, because of their angles, caused faces to be in darkness thus concealing any facial expressions and emotions. The only solution was to wear hats far back on the head at an acute angle which made it prone to fall off and look unnatural. The EVF solved this problem with their purchase of the new footlights. But, not only that, the EVF paid for the underlying electrical and networking infrastructure needed for their use. New electrical circuits and wiring had to be installed to support the footlights, and they had to be networked into the existing lighting board. This means that even when the current footlights reach their end of life, any new footlights will be able to be installed with little or no expense. The VAT thanks the EVF for this and for all they do to improve life here in the Villages.
