The Evergreen Villages Foundation

The Evergreen Villages Foundation has helped to fund 32 projects since its founding in 2009. This fiscal year, through your continued support, five new projects were completed.  Three of the new projects were selected to help Villagers deal with the covid pandemic.  When the pandemic closed indoor dining in the fall of 2020, outdoor dining with social distancing and limited seating on the Bistro patio became the only option for Villagers to enjoy a meal out. Since the cooler winter temperatures and occasional rain limited access for the patio area, the EVF quickly stepped up to help improve our outdoor all-weather dining experience by purchasing a tent enclosure and six new propane heaters for the patio.  As usage for the patio increased, the EVF further contributed by supplying 10 small tables for two and chair cushions to provide more comfortable seating for Villagers who enjoy eating on the patio.  These improvements continue to be used and enjoyed even now that indoor dining has returned.

The other two projects we supported were the driving range mats and the pickleball courts project.  With funds provided by EVF, Scott Steele was able to install upgraded natural-feel mats that have improved the golfing experience.  The pickleball courts project was several years in the making and it is a wonderful new amenity.  The EVF contributed $75,000 from our general fund and pickleball supporters, working through the EVF, donated another $425,588.63. It is wonderful to see happy pickleball players using those courts on a daily basis. 

 

During the pandemic lockdown, we continued our communication outreach to our members and the community.  We implemented further ongoing improvements to our website, launched monthly feature articles in The Villager, and have continued with our semi-annual newsletter.
